In 1937 tiny Sally Halterman didn’t let her stature hold her back. Despite weighing in at only one-third the weight of her Harley Davidson, Sally was the first woman to be granted a license to operate a motorcycle in the District of Columbia. She was 27 years old, weighed 88 pounds, and was just 4’11 tall. Upon receiving her permit, Sally was initiated into the D.C. Motorcycle Club, the only woman ever to be so honored.(from neatorama.com)
